Story Circle: Letters On Creativity & Friendship

"These missives intertwine the authenticity of lived experience with the grace of lyrical prose." Aamer Hussein - 'Two writers. Two stories. Revealed in letters.' Story Circle: Letters on Creativity and Friendship is a product of conversations between poet Fatima ljaz and novelist Taha Kehar. In a string of 48 letters, penned over a span of five intensely creative weeks and delivered through email, both authors adopt the confessional mode to discuss a plethora of ideas and find a unique creative voice. Ijaz and Kehar may live in separate countries (America and Pakistan, respectively), but they manage to traverse physical distances through honest meditations on a range of concerns. Laced with references to literature, love, a writerly life and crucial friendships (or a lack of), these letters are a window into the literary journeys they have undertaken so far. Each note is, by turns, a memoir, a diary and as a safe space where the authors share their fiction, diary entries and poetry with each other. Written with integrity and flair, these letters offer a telling portrait of the highs and lows of being an author in this day and age
