The Lady With the Dog and Other Stories (Readings Classics)

The Lady with the Dog and Other Stories is the third volume of Chekhov s short story collections. It contains 9 beautiful short stories. Vladimir Nabokoy hailed "The Lady with the Dog," the title story in this volume, as "one of the greatest stories ever written." It beautifully renders, among other themes, hope and despair in an adulterous relationship between an unhappily-married middle-aged banker and a newly-wed young lady who meet on vocation in Yalta. Chekhov wrote hundreds of short stories and a host of plays during his short life, most of which are acclaimed as masterpieces of world literature.
