Surat Al- Arz

Surat Al-Arz by Luqman Nagy is an English educational book that explores the science and art of mapmaking (cartography) through both its classical origins and the important contributions of Muslim scholars during the medieval period. Rather than a history of maps alone, this book celebrates how Muslim scientists and geographers built upon Greek cartographic knowledge, notably Ptolemy’s Geographia, to advance map design, geographic understanding, and navigational tools. Written in clear, accessible English with supportive visuals, the book encourages readers to view maps with deeper appreciation, recognizing the intellectual effort and scientific learning that shaped their development across centuries.
